Woodland Garden

I wish I had more photographs of this area to show you. Maybe over time others will be added. I hadn't realized how few we have. Look here! A winter sleepy is just awakening; it is one of the Virginia Bluebells. Their buds start out pink then turn blue as they mature. It is a native plant that is bright enough to be seen all the way from the kitchen's back window.

Now a few more steps - then look to your left.
Looking through to the meadow.

Also, to our left, there in the center I see the little Trillium is up in early spring, peeking through the fallen ginkgo leaves and oxalis.
That brings us to the end of the path. I'm ready for a sit-down. Turn right and we'll find that bench we saw earlier. Appears "someone" is waiting for us.

By now that landscape should be familiar to you.

And, here is the same view a few months later.

Oops! We have visitors.

The blue flowers here are Spanish Bluebells. There are three kinds of bluebells here at Crocker Croft: the Spanish, Virginia (that you just saw), and English. The English bells here are three colors: blue, white, and a few pink.

I think I'm ready to move on. How about you?

We go around behind the bench and you will see the path. A ninety degree turn to the left puts us on Cliff Walk.
